Agape - A love that is so unconditional.

The word love is so often used to mean many different things.

We say we "love" Taylor's Lakeside because it's so unique and beautiful. We "love" peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We "love" a particular vacation spot. We "love" our friends. We "love" our girlfriends or boyfriends. We "love" God. Hopefully we don't love our partners the same way we love peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

14th of February marks a date whereby the world sees love as an opportunity for all the single people out there to find their true love on that very special day or it's a time for the guys to lavish their girlfriend, sweeping them off their feet. If you don't have anyone? Well .. you will just be labelled as "Forever Alone".

What saddens me is that the world has constantly make Valentine's Day as THE DAY where people should spend more and more money on their partner because that's "love" or that saying "I love you" isn't enough. It needs to come with a certain type of "actions" as well.

But the Lord shows "love" in a very different way. The greatest love of all, however, is God's love for us - a love that showed itself in action.

The Bible teaches us that "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13:13

What makes God so wonderful and great is just very simple. His love never fails.

Last week on the 14th of February. We the CF would like to take the opportunity to thank our speaker Bernard Chia from Eaglepoint, Puchong who preached a storm that very evening :)

A prayer walk to remember.

On the 31st of January, we had our first CF prayer walk!

What is a prayer walk you say?

Well, we walk and pray!

Prayer-walking is where we intercede at a location, with information, in cooperation, againted opposition, for glorification! Can I get an amen?! :p

We'll be having CF as usual this Tuesday, so do join us on Valentines day! There'll will be a speaker, so don't miss out!

Hey guys!

It's been a fantastic year. God has been so good and faithful to us! There's so much to thank and praise Him for. He's so worthy to be praised!

We had our last CF on the last week of November, to wrap up what we've done together in this journey of 2011. Coming back to the central theme for CF this year, "Get Real" has blessed us abundantly. Hearing the different testimonies on how our members have been so blessed, some rededicated their lives as well as, accepted Christ! Truly, it's worth all the planning and preparation.

Getting real, more so coming back to basics of our faith and strengthening the foundations of it is so small yet most significant and powerful in our lives, we must not take it for granted.

Remember what we've done throughout the year? We've learnt together who God is, power of prayer and devotion, being salt and light, just to name a few. They are such simple messages, yet it's a powerful that God has given us to do and achieve great things for Him.

I pray that all of us, including myself will never neglect that. Let's continue to encourage one another to run this race for Jesus!

Recap: The Purpose Driven Life

It's always a pleasure to be apart of worship. Singing praises to our God and King.

Everybody say Amen? :)

Greetings fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

How are the holidays treating you? As for some .. how's exam coming along? Do know that we remember you in prayers.

The last two weekend, the CF journeyed through a book study on the 'Purpose Driven Life'. Pastor Ray Chuah from Kingdom City spoke a storm that very day. Some of you may already know that the 'Purpose Driven Life' was written by Rick Warren. Many a times when we live our lives, we tend to struggle with the meaning of our lives. The purpose of us living on earth. Why did God created me? What is his plans like for me? What on earth am I here for?

I'll be honest in saying it's not easy to write about this topic because it can really go on and on. What I could do it to try and sum it up with a poem by Russell Kelfer. Summing it up with some encouragement that comes from the Lord himself too :)

You are who you are for a reason.
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones he chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into his likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God.

Because before you were born, God planned this moment in your life. God longs for you to discover the life he created you to live. "For it's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ .. he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone". Ephesian 1:11

So whatever that you are going through, know that the Lord is with you and for you. Do not let anything hold you back to not let God work through your life. This life that you are living, especially this moment will never be an easy one. Look for strength from up above. He is there for you.

God has His amazing plan for you my friends :)

If He is the Almighty God that He said He is, then where is He when it hurts?

Dearest brother and sister in Christ :)

Sometimes whenever I talk to certain people in CF, some people would go like .. "Hey Colin .. sorry ar. didn't turn up for CF, busy. I'll try and come next week" :] How's everybody doing? I do understand that studying life can be hectic. There are times even when I find it hard to cope with everything on. So yeah I guess what I was trying to say is .. Don't be sorry! :O If you can't make it, it's okay ya? ;) cause after all, we are here for the Lord :) Amen?

Hence that's one of the reason as to why we blog, so that if you missed anything. At least you can know roughly what you missed ;) Alright. Off topic for quite a while now. So back to topic.

I'm sure by now many of you would know who's the person here. no? well he goes by the name Lyon Chua Wei Wen and basically he's the president. (sooo if there is anything, go find him :D).

As you can see, the topic for last Tuesday was "Is God still there?" So we studied the book of Job, the study was led by Lyon and how Job was a wealthy and he would obey the Lord's command. However Satan then challenges God to let him (Satan) afflict Job with the loss of all his material blessings to see whether or not Job's devotion to God is genuine. God accepted the challenge with the only stipulation that Satan not harm Job physically.

We then overhear a series of reports to Job describing the loss of his children and all his possessions to natural calamities and/or enemy tribes. Job begins to grieve but even so he does not sin. Satan then acknowledges Job’s faithfulness to God but claims that such faithfulness would crumble in the face of illness. God then gave Satan permission to afflict Job’s body with the restriction that he not be killed. Satan then attacked Job with "loathsome sores" from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. Job’s wife suggests that he curse God and die. Job refused and suffered in silence refusing to sin but at the same time Job did cried out to God, demanding His presence and explanation.

Doesn’t this just sound familiar?How often have we chosen to suffer in silence, question if God’s presence isreally with us.

When God takes away a certainsomeone that we love. friends, family. Is He still there? When we go throughcertain esteem issue in life. Is God still there? If He is, then why isn't Heanswering us .. if He's God, why is all this happening ..

Experiences like this are very real in today's world. Many times we justcan't seem to understand as to why God allow certain things to happen in ourlives. If He is God, and we believe that God is our anchor, our refuge, ourstronghold then where is He?

Well, Dont worry ! we did not end the Bible Studysession in question. We found our answer in the book of 2 Corinthians.

2 Corinthians 7:4-7

⁴ I have spoken to you with great frankness; I take greatpride in you. I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows nobounds.⁵ For when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, but wewere harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within. ⁶But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, ⁷and not only by his coming but also by the comfort you had given him. He toldus about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent concern for me, sothat my joy was greater than ever

Here, we are told that when Paul wassuffering in great agony (He was in prison) God had comforted him through thecoming of Titus. Paul wrote that verse 6 “But God, who comforts thedowncast, comforted us by the coming of Titus”. How Titus did comforted Paul?Titus brought God’s presence to Paul. Titus had ministered to Paul when Paulwas in need.

Similarity, every Christians arecalled to be Christ’s physical representation to each other and to the world.We bring God's presence wherever we go. God comforted Paul by the coming of Titus and He means to comfort each one of us by thepresence of our Christian friends.

God’s love and grace often comes tous in human form. In times of extreme suffering, grief and hurt God’s lovingpresence is often communicated through ordinary people like you and me.

so Dear friends, It is my encouragement to all that in our times of grief, hurt and suffering, we should learn to open up and seek out our christian's friends because they can incarnate God's love and comfort towards us. If you feel that there are certain struggles that you might face in life, share it with a brother and sister in Christ. If not be ready ! God will bring someone to you.

"Who Am I, God?"

Last Monday (17 October) we had Pastor PeterTsukahira paying a visit to our CF to speak on the topic ‘Who Am I, God?’

Peter Tsukahira is an Asian-American, nowliving in the Middle East. He struggled a lot with his identity growing up, butalong the way, discovered his true identity with God’s help and now travelsaround the world sharing what God has taught him.

The event “Who Am I” had such a good turnout, thanksto the various Christian Fellowships around Subang Jaya who came to hear hismessage! We started off with a lively round of praise and worship to our Godalmighty with the help of our wonderful worship team! Pastor Peter started offhis message, teaching that every human being created by God is made up of threeparts – the body (our physical selves), the soul (emotions, feelings, thoughts)and the spirit (flame of life breathed into us by God). Confusing? Let me sumit up. We are spirits, we have souls and we live in physical bodies.

Our spirit is the most real part of us, it is themost precious. Sadly, the world around us defines our identities according tothe way we look or speak. The world puts so much emphasis on looks, andfeelings, so most people never realize that the spirit is the most importantpart. We are not what we look like, how we perform in our studies/work life,who our friends are, or what we wear. Our true identity is in our spirit, it isonly given to us by God alone who created us and no one can take that away. Godalone makes our spirit alive. When He speaks to us, He speaks to our spirit,the most real part of us. Only God can tell us who we really are. Only Godalone can help us realize our true identities. We have to stop looking to theworld around us for answers because the world does NOT have the true answers tothe questions we ask.

“Being thin will make me happy”
“If I was prettier, I will be happy”
“If others approve of me, I will feel better aboutmyself”
“If I get good results in my studies, everyonewill look up to me and I will be successful”

The lies the world tells us will only tear usdown, we will never be able to live up to its ridiculous standards. We have tolook to the only one who has them, our God. An example that Pastor Peter gavewas the disciple Simon.

Matthew 16:17-18
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son ofJonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father inheaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will buildmy church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.

God calls us each by name, He knows who He createdus to be, He knows who we really are. Simon means “weed” but God knew that wasnot who he really was. Jesus gave him his true name, Peter which means “rock”.Once this disciple discovered who he really was, a rock, he changed completely.In the book of Acts we see that when Peter’s shadow fell on sick people, ithealed them completely! You see, God is the only one who knows who we are, andHe is more than willing to tell us our name, our identity in Him. And once weknow who we really are, firm and strong as children of the most High God, wediscover our true inheritance in the Him who loves us and calls us each by name.

It was truly a session of a refreshingword from God! J We ended our night with a short session ofministry and prayer. We hope you have been blessed that day, & remember,seek for your true identity in God’s eyes! J

Disappointment with God

"Some people think Christians should always be smiling and happy, and something is wrong if they aren't" - Billy Graham

But this isn't necessarily true.

The last two week, we had a series of 'Disappointment with God' and we looked into the book of Jonah. How God ordered him to go to the city on Nineveh to preach the gospel to them but Jonah did not followed God's instruction because he felt that all of them (the people of Nineveh) don't deserve a chance to be forgiven by the God for their wicked ways. But by the time Jonah got into the city of Nineveh, the people repented from their wickedness and God had compassion over them. Jonah then becomes angry with the Lord because he couldn't understand how the Lord was able to forgive the people of Nineveh just like that.

We give ourselves to God and find moments in your lives whereby we wrestle profoundly with the relationship. But instead of embracing our doubts and confusion, we often deny them to ourselves and others. Sometimes we make things worse either by feeling guilty about our struggles or by dismissing them as unimportant or insignificant. We may choose faith to live on the surface of faith, or become resentful that God does not simply step in to clear up the confusion.

These are areas that we begin to feel frustrated with the Lord, and like Jonah, we become angry sometimes because we just can't understand why God let certain things happen, circumstances we often find ourselves in defy explanation. When unexpected situations arise that appear unjust, irrational, or even dreadful. And before long we begin to doubt God's concern for us or His control over our lives.

Adversity is hard to endure, and can be harder to understand even when we know God is in control. It is difficult to trust him. Is life unfair? You bet.

Still the Lord has never fail to promise us in Hebrew 13:5 "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you". Isaiah 43:2 says " He may hide Himself from our sense of His presence, but He never allows our adversities to hide us from Him. He may allow us to pass through the deep waters and the fire, but He will be with us in them.

His ways are higher than our ways, so is His thoughts compared to ours. We can never comprehend the things that happens in our lives but with much prayer, the Lord hears. " And the peace of God will transcends all understanding , will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Trust Him even when life hurts.

Life troubles and disappointment can rob us of our happiness, but they can never rob us of the joy God gives us, as we turn in faith and seek His face.

Recap: Letters to God

I believe that two weeks ago, many were touched by the movie this movie. It was a good turn out once again, 60 plus on that day.
This movie tells a story about a young boy fighting cancer, and writes letters to God, touching lives in his neighborhood and community and inspiring hope among everyone he comes in contact. An unsuspecting substitute postman, with a troubled life of his own, becomes entangled in the boy's journey and his family by reading the letters. They inspire him to seek a better life for himself and his own son he's lost through his alcohol addiction.

The story of what happens when one boy's walk of faith crosses paths with one man's search for meaning-the resulting transformational journey touches the lives of everyone around them. Tyler Doherty is an extraordinary eight-year-old boy. Surrounded by a loving family and community, and armed with the courage of his faith, he faces his daily battle against cancer with bravery and grace. To Tyler, God is a friend, a teacher and the ultimate pen pal-Tyler's prayers take the form of letters, which he composes and mails on a daily basis. The letters find their way into the hands of Brady McDaniels, a beleaguered postman standing at a crossroads in his life. At first, he is confused and conflicted over what to do with the letters. But the decision he ultimately makes becomes a testament to the quiet power of one boy's shining spirit and unshakable faith.

If you have not watched this movie yet, let me assure you it is something that you don't want to miss in your life time. What are your struggles in life? Sickness? Past sins? A fail relationship? Surrender them to God because He knows all about your struggles. Not forgetting of our dear friends who may be going through similar experiences in this moment in time, maybe worst. Take this opportunity to be there for them. Remember God's word in Hebrew 12:1,"Therefore we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw whatever that is hindering us and the sins that are so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us". In the song written by Steve Green, "After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone, And our children sift through all we've left behind, May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover, Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find".

Be strong and courageous my fellow brother and sisters,
for the people around us, for the people we love the most :)

Of tears and laugthers

The Taylor's University Christian Fellowship had another great time of praise & worship led by Joel Ryan Lee last Tuesday, September 13 :)

After the praise & worship session, we had some really fun games of what-it-might-seems-to-be-a-game-of-charades but its not charades .. Get me? I'm confused too :S My bad. Well to keep it simple. It's something similar :)

And after that was the main highlight for the week. The farewell.

Last tuesday, the CF remembers some the Law students who were about to further their studies in the UK. Remembering the people that were about to leave were Joel Ryan Lee, Cheryl Chin, Lim May Zhen and Elaine Chin. All four who were once the committee members of the CF. All four who were the ones that were fired up to have a Taylor's Lakeside Campus Christian Fellowship.

Bidding goodbye to a dear friend is always a hard thing to do, but it's something that we have to face each time because one thing is for sure. One day our friends have to further their studies. One day our friends have to find a job after they graduate. And so, that was how it was like for us.

We started the meeting with an open session for a short time of sharing,

and had a short video presentation of their journey here with us at Taylors Lakeside

It was indeed an emotional moment for the most of us but we praise the Lord for the friendship that we could have over this past few years.

People will come and go but what makes it so different is how we live our lives in this campus. Sometimes it is the small things that one can do that makes a whole lot of different in a person's life. Just being there to encourage, to pray, to listen, to just be there for that certain someone and all 4 of them has that in them. Their love and care. And that makes them who they are as a person and it's how they are as a person that 'we' the CF members will miss them the most.

But hey! At least it's not the end. We will still be able to meet again sometime soon.

So Tuesday was the second official week after Christian Fellowship's reopening! There was fun and games, praise & worship and a great time of fellowship during dinner.

Pastor Dave led a message about getting real in Christ! We should all be real deal Christian by being the salt and light in our daily life.

Salt?! No, not salt for cooking :) We should be the salt to give flavour and influence to others!

Light?! Imagine yourself studying in a quiet room late at night, or awakened by a bad dream. What you need is sure to be light! Light is needed for us to see clearer things ahead, needed for wisdom and well as courage.

So bear in mind to be the salt & light wherever you are! :)

and guess what ?! 68 people were there, of which 25 were newcomers.

*insert loud and continuous applause here*

YEAH ISN'T THAT AMAZING? All glory to God.

Let's all go the extra mile by inviting more friends and classmates to CF.

Now, I could just go on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how awesome, great, fantastic, wonderful, excellent, terrific, amazing, remarkable and inspiring CF is, but YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO COME TO FIND OUT.

Who says Church has to be a boring place?

Hello there to all you-awesome-peeps !! So Christian Fellowship reopen last tuesday, 2 August 2011 at LT 2 at 5pm. Yes I know I had mentioned that CF will be held at LT 12. Forgive me but because the week was still fresh with all the new semesters and timetables, there was a miscommunication with some of the schools. Though we booked the place, the lecturer still needed to conduct a class as well.

We are hoping to get back LT 12, because it's so standardize, everyone just knows CF is there (I hope .. you should! cause we are always there ... :D) Anyway, if things like this happen ever again, do try and check out for notices at the corridors, we'll definitely try our best to send 'ushers' to lead you to the respective Lecture Theater for that particular day when we can't have CF at LT 12.

So yes! We started of CF this week with 50 people coming for CF and about 10 newcomers !! The Praise and Worship session led by Jade and team :) It is times like this that I wished I could share with you some pictures !!! :O Stay tune okay? Keep reading. We will bring our cameras and start taking pictures for the next CF meetings !! It's moments like this where we need to keep remembering, those who can't make it, at least the blog is here to share the moments :) !! Still, I will try my very best to paint the picture for all of you.

After Praise and Worship, we had Jian Quin being the main emcee for the day, leading us with some games. Oh! But before that, we had Joseph starting of with some Ice-breaker - a simple game of Simon says (Sounds lame right? Wait till you try playing Joseph version of it, it's not that easy actually) Then again, I just contradict myself :S

Anyway! We had some interesting game led by Jian Quin, it starts of as Charades but it morph into her own original style .. it was interesting indeed :D Those of you who missed out on it, not to worry. I'm sure one day we'll be playing it again :)

So then after the game sessions, we had Lyon, our President of Taylors CF to open up with some short sharing, reminding the people again about the purpose and the reason as to why we chose the theme 'Get Real', and there was something that he said that really got to me.

By Getting real, it means that we as Christians, we should be 'an authentic people pursuing an authentic faith'. It is about being genuine with our walk with God. It's about who we are in our church, in our school, within our friends .. It's about your friends and family that are still unbelievers, but they are able to see God through you, with the way you live your life. One that is pleasing to God. One that glorify Him.

To God be the Glory.

CAMPUS REVOLUTION: BLESSING THE UNSUNG HEROES!

It was a beautiful Saturday morning that day. Not like any other ordinary Saturdays where you wake up to a scorching sun that would burn your skin due to the unbearable heat as you get out of the house. Yup :) Indeed it was a good day and we thank the Lord for the beautiful weather because on that particular Saturday, we the Christian Fellowship were on a mission.

A mission to reach out to the people who cleans our toilets, to the people who vacuums the dusty carpets at the Library so that nobody else would fall sick, to the people who makes sure that our classes are clean before we start our lectures, to the people who practically gives us a cleaner environment to study. Yes. We were on a mission that particular Saturday to bless our janitors.

Of Lunch, a bar of chocolates and a thank you card were just some of the small token of appreciation that we could give to them for what they had done for us. Not many would actually appreciate the things that they do, but they work really hard. I mean we are students of Taylors University College. I'm sure you know how big our campus can be!

So we started preparing the foods about 11.30am,

And as you can see, all the mak ciks and pak ciks, aunties and uncles? Pardon me. So yes! As we were preparing for lunch to be served. They were all seated down, ready to feast!

And once we were ready, they were ready too! Thus let lunching begins :D !!

The menu? Of Rice, chickens and vegetables were some of the dishes that we served to them :) Oh! and not forgetting the muffins too!

About 55 workers were there that very day and as we were serving the food to them, they were very appreciative with the lunches that we brought. As you can see, hand signs like a thumbs up shows how much they enjoyed the food :)

And there you have it. If you are not quite sure what Campus Revo is all about. It is definitely not to just show people how GOOOODDD our Christian Fellowship can be, but it is our way to go forth, to reach out and at the same time, to bless them :) Because in the word of God, Matthew 28:19-20 says "To go and make disciples of all nations ... " It's the seeds that we plant in their hearts that one day, they might come to know more about the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

Because after all, we all have our parts to play. We don't need to really go to the ends of the earth, we can always start with our families, friends or neighbours, and even in this case, our janitors.

What's a birthday bash without more games?? The CF had laughing fits over this game! Definitely a test of speed and quick thinking!

Another game that was played required the birthday babies to read out a paragraph about themselves with blanks that they had to fill in with their own answers. It was definitely interesting to get to know more about our birthday babies!

And of course, there was CAKE!!!!! Yum yum!!

CF BBQ in the interest of the Japan disaster

Hey folks!

We hope those of you who came in for the past two weeks of Birthday Bash and Brother Michael Williams sharing on devotion left with some kind of value added to your lives.

This post is to announce that the CF's Campus Revo arm will be organizing a BBQ this Friday at the campus specifically in the interest of the Japan victims! As you all know, there are Japanese students in our campus and they have been affected by all that has happened back at home.

Taylor's University CF helps the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami victims!

Hey folks!

Hope you guys had an awesome time at CF just now with Lyon facilitating the bible study on Ruth and having faith in God through calamities! There were 5 newcomers and 51 people and we're hoping for more to fill up LT 12!

A little Praise Report: Yesterday we had Prayer Meeting and had 15 people! We even ended it with a praise and worship song 'My Redeemer Lives' to proclaim his sovereignty over DEATH and DRAMA. WOOHOOOO oh yeahh. Then this morning we had Campus Revo! and we had 10 people! Praise God! We're hoping for more and more to come and #PrayforJapan. As the bible says, where two or three are gathered in His name, God will be there too!

Anyway, the biggest Praise Report so far is the offering that we collected for the Japan victims! In total, we collected about RM 256.06! PRAISE GOD HALLELUJAH AMEN WOOHOOOOO!

Every cent counts towards helping them. So yeah praise God for the generous givings!

Moving ON Life Groups :)

Last Tuesday (25th January 2011) we had our second CF (woohoo!!!) and it was our very first LIFE group meeting!

"Huh?!" you ask. "What is this whole LIFE group thing about?"

Well, we're glad you asked! In a nutshell, the LIFE groups are your cell groups that you will have for the rest of the year. It stands for....

Learning

Impacting

Fellowshipping

Encouraging

And so together in our LIFE groups we'll learn more about God, impact one another, fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ and encourage each other when one is down. It's a place where everyone can just be themselves, share our struggles and testimonies, pray and care for one another...basically be a close-knit family of brothers and sisters in Christ.

Awesome eh? :D

So what happened last Tuesday with the LIFE groups?

Well, we discussed about our New Years Resolutions for 2011 and the message that Joel Loi preached to us the Tuesday before.

We shared our aspirations for the brand new year, shared our past struggles and worries for 2011, prayed for each other's needs, encouraged one another to press on and ultimately committed this year to God. For all the LIFE groups, it was truly a fulfilling time of fellowship and encouraging one another. And we left feeling hopeful for the new beginnings that 2011 offers. :)

Here are some updates on the First CF which was at 18 January 2011 :)

There were 38 members out which 10 were new. About 12 people from AYA were present too to support Joel Loi who was the speaker! Joel Loi from Asian Youth Ambassadors then came and shared with us about New Year Resolutions and moving on!

SERMON NOTES:
1) Joshua 1: Moses is dead, go past the Jordan River.
- In other words, you cannot carry on what's expired so that you will be constantly fresh.
-- What is expired, STINKS.
- Do not touch what's already past
-- For example, dude you don't talk about your Ex GF to your current GF right? Also, you don't talk about scoring 7As in PMR right? So, don't bring 2010 into 2011.
--- This means even successes and failures.

2) Arise: Get Out and Move On
- Have you ever seen anyone move in their campus with their butts? You just can't do it.
- Do not just realise it, STAND UP.
- You can't say you know unless you really ARISE; knowing without action = fail
- You cannot do anything to change 2010, MOVE ON.

3) Keep Walking.
- They were at Jordan which was awesome but God wanted to take them to the Promise land.
-- They were just one step away!
- Following the scripture, the Lord said I have done already.
- Just received it that you have received your BREAKTHROUGH.
- For example, you can't just know you have to sleep early, you have to actually sleep early.

Hey folks,

First of all, once again Taylor's Lakeside CF would like to say Happy New Year to all again. I guess you can never wish that too many times!

As a new year has started, we would like to announce our very first normal CF weekly meeting will commence next next Tuesday, 18 January 2011.

The committee has just returned from the retreat and they had an awesome time planning and just devoting it completely to God. Thank you all for your prayers. They have decided on the theme for the year and have planned accordingly the sessions that will entail completely for the 1st half of the year.

Next Tuesday, 11 January 2011 will be more of a session to clarify with the remaining committee who were not present in the retreat to explain and confirm the direction God has given us instead of a normal CF meeting. Thus, there will be no speaker or no life group session or activities other than a direction planning clarification meeting.

If you would like to be involved in the planning meeting, you can come to contribute your ideas as well. We will not metaphorically shut the door.

The actual CF will resume on 18 January 2011, the following Tuesday with the theme of 'New Year Resolutions'. More info on this soon. VERY AWESOME TRUST ME :) 2011 is going to be awesome!

A Prayer Request: CF Committee Retreat

Dear Christian folk of Taylor's Lakeside Campus,

Just to let you guys know, the Committee will be heading to Cameron Highlands from 6 January 2011 to 9 January 2011 to intercede like mad people and seek God closer than they've ever done before. Heaven knows they need it.

Yes, they need extreme direction to lead the CF this year.

I can't find the verse that says pray for your leader but I think we all know they need serious prayer if we want this CF to be a God filled CF and not just another club down the street that sings and calls a dude to speak to us each week.

PRAY FOR US. Bless you kind souls :) haha

But no, seriously. We don't want to go to Cameron to play play and then come back down to realise we didn't receive anything spiritually. Thanks in advance!

Well we have good news for you! It's only going to get better because there will be CF TODAY at 5 PM!

However, instead of having at D4.15, it will be held at the AMPHITHEATRE!

That's right! CF will be held OUTDOORS!

Big Campus Christmas Party Updates

Dear folks

On behalf of TLCF, We just wanna thank ya all folks for contributing by sowing into God's kingdom every week! The RM200 that we made mention here was indeed used well! In fact, so many people contributed to the project, in rough estimate we had about:

3 Large crates overflowing!!
800++ kg of rice!!
200++ kg of oil!!

AND MUCH MUCH MORE!

I quote Jade, "We can definitely help more than 50 families. A whole housing are, I believe!"

And that is not all. During the actual BCCP night, a record of 759 people came, that of which 305 were new to the annual Big Campus Party. Out of that, 45 people responded to God's call; 30 rededicated their lives and another 15 completely gave their lives to God for the first time!

Indeed as God made mention in Psalms 23:5, He will never fail us. Truly, as stated in said verse, "my cup overflows with blessing", our cup will never stop flowing with blessings if we keep investing with God's SOLE AND ONLY CURRENCY, Faith.

Once again, quoting Jade, "Today we see a glimpse of what God can do. Malaysia one day, for Jesus!"

Two hundred BUGS

I meant two hundred bucks worth. And that is our pledge for the community, folks! And we will be using a special means for that. I want to crack it down for you folks because when I first heard it I was as blur as a pot as well. ANYHOOO

HERE'S THE PLAN.

As we have sowed into God's kingdom for the past few months (dropped moolah into the offering bag), the committee has received confirmation to sow into the lives of the poor. We have decided to pledge a good RM 200 worth to buy household items and goods for 50 poor families in the region of Klang Valley. Yes, we have poor people among us in case you didn't know k!

And we will be doing this through Big Campus Christmas Party!

So we give the 200 bucks worth to them responsible folks and they do the distributing :) Each household food item would be labelled with 'Taylor's Lakeside CF' and real people's names of those who contribute (if you do) because we want the people to know that it's not just some corporation dishing out goods on them BUT REAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE HEARTS AND CARE!

We're serious in our loving yo.

Yes, it's happening this Saturday and while it's a party to have fun, do note that it's with a cause. And if you personally feel you want to help out YOU CAN AS WELL. Hey folks!

Hmm if you're wondering what this is then WONDER NO MORE! It's our last theme of the year before we close shop and reopen next year :) And yes closing shop was just figurative speech by the way.

Anyway, so this month and December we will be focusing on NATION BUILDING. We have been 'owning it' in so many other areas like personal life, relationships etc etc and now it's time for nation time!

Hey Family!

On the 26th of October, the CF did things with a little twist by having a forum on....relationships!! The areas that were touched on included Boy-Girl Relationships (BGR), friendships and family relationships, all of which are very relevant to us. On the panel: happily-married man Chun Chung from FES, Kenneth Chaw, Lyon Chua, Julia George and Melody Tuitoek.

What made this forum interesting was that it attempted to address questions regarding relationships from a Christian perspective. Questions ranged from interesting ones like "What is the definition of an ideal Christian couple?" to very real questions that we ask ourselves like "Is it okay to go clubbing with my friends if I'm not drinking?" Difficult questions were asked and it was enlightening to hear what the panel had to say about them.

Overall, it was an interesting discussion; not only among the panel but also with the audience who actively gave their two cents and participated in it. Needless to say, conflicting opinions were present, which is actually a good thing as it encouraged the audience to ponder further on the area of relationships.

As Joel, as the MC of the day pointed out, it is good to remind ourselves too that sometimes there are no hard and fast rules for certain areas. Despite some grey areas of relationships, it should be emphasised that when the Bible makes a stand clear (like it is God's plan for us to save ourselves for marriage) it should be something non-negotiable for Christians.

Some of the questions from the forum itself:

BOY-GIRL RELATIONSHIPS

How right must a Christian be with God before getting into a relationship?
It's not about how right you are with God. We are not perfect and never will be. What matters is that you are IN a journey with God and have that relationship with Him. This journey with Him will show in the fruits that you bear.

How far is too far when it comes to physical contact? Is there a purpose of saving ourselves?
Would we simply kiss any friend? If you're not willing to pay for the food, don't eat it. If the person is not yours (that is: spouse, not boyfriend/girlfriend), you have no right to cross that boundary as friends or even significant other. If you have no right to hold a person's hand, why should you have the right to do so with your bf/gf? They're not yours but God's!

When getting into a relationship, you need to set your physical boundaries clearly. If your partner doesn't respect that, he/she doesn't respect you.

Once again, how far is too far? Really, having a gf/bf doesn't entitle you to do anything with him/her. We are still God's. Besides we all know that one thing will lead to another. As humans we won't be contented at one stage. One touch will lead to the desire for more. The boundary is at friendship where it's safe. Why get dangerous? In fact, celebrate friendship!

SAME-SEX RELATIONSHIPS

What do you do when you're attracted to someone of the same gender?
As a Christian, know what the Bible says about same sex attraction first. Nonetheless, Christianity is not based on rules but LOVE. Have someone to support you throughout. It should be noted that some people are in this situation because of past sexual abuse and become confused. Deal with the root of it, IF that is the case.

If your friend is the one that is attracted to someone of the same gender, don't judge and keep loving him/her. Remember that same-sex relationships not a worse or better sin than other sins.

*This is a very grey area regardless; and remains largely unanswered.

FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

What if my Christian parents don't honour God?
Make a stand for what you believe in. Trust God and let them see HIm in you. If you really trust that God is true, stand up for it.

FRIENDS RELATIONSHIPS

What if my Christian friends don't reflect God's values?
Be honest with them, but don't judge. Truly love them but don't sugar coat things and make it clear that what they're doing is not right. Let them decide for themselves. Know that he/she must first want to change himself. How we treat Christians should be in the way of wisdom and with wisdom, correct them. Sure, correction may be harsh. But NOT doing it is worse as it not only imposes judgement on us who do not try to correct them and correction should be seen as an act of mercy.

Remember that all of us will come to a time where we are not walking the talk. Hence, remember that Christians are not perfect but God always calls us back. The question is this: do we want to go back to Him?

Truly, our God works in mysterious ways. Laugh it off, but prayer really works! And when desperate times like these occur, even though sometimes we might not know the person (for example I don't know Rebecca personally) but through our faith, prayer still works anyhow anywhere! We just have to take the first step first and begin to pray.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

Call Him funny, but our God likes to be leaned on. He likes to be relied on because that's what love is all about. So really guys, let's say a prayer or two or more (the more the better) for Rebecca for complete healing. We cannot let our guards down because the devil will chew on our asses. Laugh it off, but it's true nonetheless.

In case you're in the blur of what happened, last Thursday, a group of students was led by the God the awesome, to bless the Taylor's Lakeside Residences students by giving them big red juicy apples for the day, free of charge. They were pretty heavy, and I know that for a fact because I helped carry them from the taxi. But wait, take a step back. Buying apples for the students? You must be thinking for what huh?

Morning Prayer is back!

Dear folks,

Morning prayer is back! It used to be prayer meeting on Thursday 12pm - 1pm for the past two-three months but now it is back to mornings at 730am! Today morning was our inaugural one in a long time and you might have seen 9 people who gathered by the amphitheater as you walked to class today.

Baby also can pray I don't see why we can't :)

Details:

Time: 7.30am to 7.55am

Day: Every Monday

Venue: Amphitheater, Taylor's Lakeside Campus

The official morning prayer would hence be held every Monday whereby Jade, our awesome prayer coordinator would be leading us into some awesome chit chat with the super awesome God who resides in the heavens yet exists beside us omnipresently.

Otherwise, we also will be gathering informally every other day (Tuesday-Friday) at 7.30am at the amphitheater just to chill and fellowship together. We will be praying as well but it's a more informal thing without a proper regime. In other words, we'll just be there to start the day with God together.

Hello everyone!

How has your weekend been so far? After an encouraging talk by Pr Steven last week on relationships, some of you might be wondering what's up for CF this week. Well, it'll be none other than our very own Relationships Forum!

We'll be discussing on issues pertaining:
a) Boy-Girl Relationships
b) Same sex Relationships
c) Family Relationships
d) Friends Relationships
e) Spiritual Relationships

and so on so forth that has to do with relationships! Yes, we're very real people.

Example of a destructive relationship.

There will be a special panel that will be present to hopefully be able to clear whatever bugging questions and doubts that you might have. There will be a time where everybody will be given pieces of paper and questions may be written on them. This is to protect identities (for those who are shy especially). Then the questions will be passed on to the panel who will answer accordingly.

Do pray before you come for the right questions and wisdom and not just come expecting some dope laugh off session because while that's what you might end up with, you'll pretty much be at square one where you started off.

I wonder how you've all been doing these past few days. Yesterday at CF at D4.15 at 5pm which we have every week (HAHA), we had a very awesome speaker from Eaglepoint Church who goes by the name of Ps Steven Teoh to come to speak to us about relationships in general and its sheer importance.

Below is an excerpt of what a layperson in CF thought and felt about the message:

Mother Theresa was asked "What's wrong with the human race?" and she replied "They draw their circle too small".

In CF today, Pr. Steven spoke about relationships. In this time and age where we're so caught up with the things that we do, it made so much sense when he said that if you have no time for people, you are replacing relationships with self-centred priorities. People should matter more than matters.

We need to place more importance in our relationships lest we end in the vicious 'I' cycle which can be summed up as a progression from being individualistic, independent, isolated, indifferent and idolatry.

One thing that made me think was when he said that once of the reasons why so many students can be so on fire for God is that they actually have the time for God. Eventually, as we move on in life, responsibilities will escalate, with work and whatnot. Will we then neglect God? What will happen to our relationships? I guess the point he was getting to was that eventually, we need to choose who and what will take more importance than the other. I guess ultimately relationships don't just happen because it's convenient. Especially when you have a million and one things to juggle as we enter into the working force, it takes effort. Conscience effort. And making the wrong choices can bring about sad consequences.

Sad consequences.

A person with a million friends still can feel loneliness, simply because he may not have real friends. In Acts 2:4 it is seen that the people were devoted, which is defined as to give up or appropriate to concentrateon a particular pursuit. Other versions say that they were committed which means to carry into action deliberately. Deep eh?

It's timely for us to ask ourselves what are some of the things that we are committed to, and more importantly, why? Personally, I thought it was really interesting to ask ourselves these questions as it reflects what each of us value in life at our current stage in life. When I listed my commitments, I mildly surprised myself because when I analysed why I put emphasis in the things that I think I'm committed to, it shows what I ACTUALLY value, instead of what I think I value or what I should value.

I reckon asking these questions actually prove what we do value because when I think of my commitments, they are the things that I invest quite some time in, make me sleep deprived, saps up my energy and causes me to make sacrifices. It's no biggie, but it's not entirely nothing. I loved what came after that by Pr. Steven. Despite our list of commitments, do relationships have a place in our minds as something we're committed to? No? Why isn't it? I guess right now it's not that difficult to meet up with our pals, but when it's not so convenient, it takes commitment to make a relationship work.

Relationships are driven by love.

What drives you?

1 John 4:7-21 is a really cool portion of Scripture that says God's love is about and what our love for people should be. v 19 says that "We love because God loved us first".

All human beings have the capacity to love because love is God. Some have more of that capacity than others. But even a person that has enormous capacity to love, there is a limit to that kind of love. However, when we realise that God loves us with our warts and all, our capacity to love others will move in the direction of being limitless. With God's love, we would go the extra mile to love people and persevere.

I thought it was so true when Pr. Steven mentioned that theology doesn't help people, but love does. People need to know that we love them!

The bottom line of it all?

God's love precedes any other love and relationship that we can ever experience. The best reminder ever. :)

Inevitably, how I would like to sum up is what Melody said doing the discussion on our personal commitments and what we value to be committed to.

Melody said, "Love, because it's all I have."

Love, is God. and God, is Love.

A cup, when it seeks for water and is filled to the brim still being continuously filled, will overflow unto other cups around it just like a wedding glass pyramid. I believe love to be the same.

Actions holds the microphone; it speaks heaps louder than words.

I personally like what Ps Steven said, "Do you know why Mother Teresa was so good at what she did? It's because she probably never told the kids in India that Jesus loves them. Instead, she SHOWED it. Just like Jesus, she had not emphasized on the preaching on love but showed it in actions."

CF 24th June

CF this week was largely focused on the passing of our dear brother, Joash Wee who has gone home to be with our Father in heaven. Although we are grieving for the loss of dear Joash and some of his family members, we will always remember that our good God is indeed in control. He has a plan for each and every one of us and He deserves all praise and glory at all times, even in times like this.

So PRAISE was exactly what we did during this CF! As we sung praises unto God, we also interceeded for Joash's family and prayed for all that were involved, directly or indirectly, in the incident. It was truly a refreshing time as we just spent time praising and remembering how amazing our Lord Father God is. A few CF members also shared about how Joash has touched their lives and to hear those testimonies was truly inspiring, Amen!

Through the sharing session and eulogies given in the memorial service, it is evident that Joash was a humble servant of God. He served tirelessly and was truly a friend to everyone. He shared his big heart and loved everyone around him. Although he has left, the lives he has touched and the lives that his stories will touch will never be the same again. Isn't it wonderful how God can work through and in us? Joash had a purpose in life, he knew it and he lived for it. Let his passing be not just a sad incident, but let it be a reminder to all of us that there are still many out there who have yet to hear the good news, and of course, to act on it!

Although we might not see it now, it is God's promise to us that He has our world and our lives in His hands. And He will make everything beautiful in His timing. Even as we are going through this time of grief and loss, let us not forget our almighty God who loves us dearly and who knows every purpose and every reason for everything. Many times we are caught up with the worldly things that we forget that all things belong to Him, and that only He is worthy to be priased! Let us now put our trust in Him and continue to serve Him through our lives!

CF this week was truly inspiring as we remember our brother Joash and his life. We are blessed to have known you, Joash Wee, and we thank God for such a wonderful brother who has made such an impact on those around him.

If you missed CF this week, you just missed being a part of something great, but fear not because CF is on again next Tuesday, 29th June 2010! It will be our last CF before the break and there will be a potluck/sharing session.

Memorial service of Joash Wee.

As many of you would have known, our dear brother Joash Wee has gone home to be with the Lord. Below is an article related to his passing.

The memorial service will be held in Muar and the funeral will be conducted in Nilai.

For your information, Joash Wee's coffin will be nailed down on Tuesday (22 June 2010) around 9am at Muar before it reaches Nilai on the same day. Hence, those who would like to go down to Muar before the coffin is shut can go to Bukit Jalil bus stop to catch the Transnational bus that goes to Muar. It's RM 15 per ticket and can be purchased there and then.

What's been happening at Lakeside CF?

Here's what happened at last week's CF

L.I.F.E. group was on this week where different groups got together and shared with one another about being the impact to the people around us and that no matter how small you may think you are, it is possible to make a change!

Here are some pictures taken during and after CF!

Julia shared about the Tuition Programme that the CF Outreach Ministry is trying to do to serve the community with God's love. We are trying to reach the children in the flats next to our campus by offering them academic guidance in 4 different subjects- English, BM, Maths and Science. Anyone interested to teach children ranging from primary to secondary school can sign up and enquire during our next meeting!

This week's CF was also the last CF for two of our long serving CF members - Sean and Joash. They have both been a great blessing to the PJ CF and now the Lakeside CF, serving tirelessly for the Lord in the CF. Our prayers are with you as you journey into the next phase of life with new challenges and trials. But fear not for the Lord is with you both wherever you are and you can count on Him, Amen? Do come back to visit us when you are free!

...that Taylor's CF PJ Campus had 1 salvation @ our weekly CF Meeting. And one (who is a pre-believer) wants to buy a Bible for herself.

Salvations and rededications can happen in a CF, run by campus students.

We've recorded 2 salvations and 12 rededications in the past month. :)

Bible says, "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in purity."

This is awesome! Revival has begun in Taylor's! :)

Hey everyone! Check out what happened at our last CF Meeting. I'll let the photos do more of the talking. Hehe. :)

We had Joel Loi, who is a full time worker at Asian Youth Ambassador (AYA) and also serves as a Graphic Designer for Acts Church, came and shared God's love based on verse John 3:16 -

"For God so loved the world He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

It was a simple, yet powerful message where 6 precious people rededicated their lives back to Christ. We were all truly blessed by the message and we're inspired to do more for God. Most importantly, share His love to our friends. :)

"I just got back home from CF and it was awesome! It's been long since I last attended a CF meeting and I feel so good. God is good! It feels really good to be back again.

Anyway, i have a confession! Actually, I was invited many times by most of my friends to attend CF meeting before this but always refused and rejected their invitations because was either too lazy or just don't want to. But I had no reason to say no anymore because my classes ended at 5pm on Tuesdays and it is just nice to attend CF right after that. But oh well, I never regretted it. I got to know more people and the most important part is that I got to learn more about GOD!

We learnt about faith and the fearing God today. It's really nice as we shared our thoughts. To me, faith is believing in something I can't see. I believe in everything I do, God has a plan for me.. and there's a reason behind it. Faith is trusting in Christ alone. In life, we will go through the ups and downs, and problems come and go. But with faith, everything is made possible. Without faith, I won't be who I am today. Someone different! Because I believe that, God will always be with me no matter what I'm going through. It is part of the challenge of my life. It makes me a stronger person than before.

The fear of God? Do you ever wonder, who does people fear God? To me, I do sometimes fear God. It is just the same illustration as our parents. Our parents scold us and we're afraid of them but we know that they still love us and they don't want us to go to the wrong way. So, God does the same thing too. If we don't fear God, we won't learn! And knowing that God love us very much."

CF is all about helping people believe more, not only in themselves, but in God. It takes a lot to have faith in something. But once you've experienced God yourself, you wouldn't want to stay far away from Him.

Udpdate: CF @ Taylor's PJ

Hello kawans!

Taylor's PJ had their weekly CF Meetings and we had an awesome time together with God and with each other. We grew from 23 to 36 campus students this week. It was so awesome to walk in to LT 2 and see a bigger crowd of people. And also, our Prayer Meeting happened on Thursday @ 12pm-1pm, LT 3. It grew from 5 to 11 people this week! WOW! Revival is happening. People are hungry and searching for something more out of life, than just a boring student life.

Really believing and expecting the CF to grow big by end of this year.

And also, expecting a lot of pictures posted up here. Heh. I mean, who doesn't like pictures right? HAHA.

On May 25, 2001, Erik Weihenmayer was one of the many who successfully and triumphantly climbed to the peak of Mt. Everest.

Only thing is...

He was blind.

Erik became the first ever blind person to reach the summit of Mt. Everest-the highest point on the Earth's continental crust, standing at 8,848 metres (29,029 ft).

I'm reminded of the many times when I would face a "mountain" in my life. And ooohh yes, they're big... HUGE actually!

But you know what, God is bigger than the mountains of our lives. And He has enable us overcome those mountains!

Erik Weihenmayer did. The freezing cold temperature did not stop him, the pressure did not stop him, his weariness did not stop him and most importantly, his blindness did not stop him.

How good?

Hey people! =D

Now as you'll notice as you read on this post, the style of the whole post is different compared to the previous posts you might've read.

Well I've been given the honour and privilege to update the CF blog from now on and I, Ben Soo from School of Hospitality, would do my best to keep you informed and continue to inspire you with all the awesome things God is doing on our campus here @ Taylor's PJ! =D

And I have here a fantastic testimony to kickstart this blog that's gonna get better and bigger as we hit the big 2010! ;)

Tuesdays are always something I look forward to, its a splendid experience like no other getting to meet up with people who has a heart for God and who wants to see something happen in their beloved campuses and people around them!

It was around 9pm after I sent a friend back home that day and a thought popped up: "It's been awhile since I watched a movie", so watched a movie I did, after hearing good comments about the movie "2012" I just had to see how good it is.

I parked the car, walked into the mall, everything was going good, despite the fact that I was given the 10:30pm screening when I specificly asked for the 9.30pm one and accidently got 2 drinks for myself, but still, all was good. =P

After the movie (which I find quite good! =D), I'm all set to go back home and get some goodnight's sleep! Walked to my car, opened the door, inserted my car key into the ignition slot just to find that the key wouldn't turn! It won't budge! So ok, lets try that again, it happened before so it'll work if I just close the door, and repeat the process..

Wish it would've work the second time or the third time at least, but I struggled there for probably more than half an hour trying to turn the key and hoping that it would start the car. I was praying real hard and was sweating all the way through. At time's like this, people would go "Why God?! Why?!". Including myself. =P

I did, and even more specificly and detailed: "Why God?! Why at this hour at Sunway Pyramid's carpark?!" It was 1.30am. But I managed to switch from that mentality to: "God, you know better." and I push myself to instead of complaining, praise and thank God. It was HARD! haha. Especially when you really want to just get home and sleep, you're stuck in a carpark in a pyramid!

I came to a conclusion that it might be the key problem that's so worn out after 4 years and good thing I have a spare one at home. So I had no choice but to take a taxi home instead and it was no cheap deal. RM35 for a one way trip to Desa Petaling wasn't something I expected. But I explained my situation and I got a RM5 discount. Ok it wasn't much but its better than paying RM35! =P

I woke up the next morning and again got a taxi back to the mall. It actually costed half the price of the cab yesterday if the meter was used! I happily went up to the carpark, quite convinced that this time, it'll work! Had to re-pay for my carpark ticket and I had to pay RM10! I had only a big RM50 note with me and I inserted it in. Hoping to get 4 RM10 notes, I got loads of RM1 notes and coins instead. Sigh. And for those who've seen my wallet would know that keeping MORE coins in it would turn it into a lethal weapon- Like a powerful brick that can be thrown at my disposal. But that's alright! I'm getting my car back! =D

Got into my car and again placed the key into the ignition and turned...

IT WON'T TURN! @_@

After a few times trying, I gave up and called the car's call center. Wasn't please with what I heard: Toll truck that's gonna bring my car to the service center which is gonna cost around RM240!

They mentioned they'll call again in 5 minutes so I went to the secret place, to the holy of holies, to vent out my discouragement and frustration, to just calm myself and set my priorities straight.. I went to....

Popeye's Chicken.

... I was hungry. =P

Got a call awhile later and the guy assumed it was a steering lock problem and all I need to do was to twist my steering wheel left and right and turn the key. The question I want the answer to TILL NOW has been: "why must I go through all that trouble just for a problem that has a simple solution as that? T-T"

I did as instructed and the car started! I tell you I felt on top of the world!! Despite being in a carpark. As I was driving out I was shouting with praise and cheering and probably the car following behind me must've think I've gone nuts.

The good thing was that I didn't have to pay the incredibly heavy amount or I would have to fast A LOT of meals this month!

One interesting thing that happened as I was going up to the carpark again was this group of people I saw promoting whatever they are promoting walking around with these signboards that reads: "I'll make you look gorgeous" which I found quite humourous!

But later as I was walking along a thought came to my mind: "Could that also be what God is trying to say to me today?" Definition of gorgeous which I looked up on google means: dazzlingly beautiful.

I was reminded of the message last Sunday at my Church where when you're going through your "midnight hour" meaning to say your persecutions, your hard times, your health issues, your disappointments, people have their eyes on you. So what will they see when they do?

Someone who gave up and think that theres no more hope? OR someone who stands in the conviction that God is able to do all things and that He can turn things around no matter how BIG they are? =)

If so, trust me, not only will He make turn things around but He will "make you gorgeous" or in other words, He will use this to transform you from the inside out, that you'll shine out so extravagantly, showing the world what our God is all about! =)

I believe even I was type this post now, that I've not lost anything but gained so much more! I want to shine His hope and His love.. NOT my glooms and dooms.

So how good is our God? You tell me. =)

Hey everyone!

It has been an eventful semester hasn't it? I'm sure every one of us had fun and learned a-plenty about God!

Well, as things are, we will be having our final meeting of the year this coming Tuesday! :(

So, let's do things a little differently this time round ok? ;)

We will be having Pot Bless/dinner this week! So, it would be great if everyone bring a little something to the meeting. It can be anything you can think of, just bring it along and once combined with the others, we are sure to have a feast! Yum yum!

I know that many of you are in the mist of finals and assignment hand-ups, but fo make the effort to come as we will be officially bidding goodbye to some of our CF members who have been faithfully serving with us throughout the semesters.

It will be worth you time as we will listen to some of their experiences in Taylors and CF.

Apart from that, there will be no official agenda. Just fun, fellowship, food and more fellowship! :D

How many self help/motivational guides do we see on bookshelves that carries the title of the above? Plenty don't you think?

It goes without saying that all of us would want to fully utilize every aspect of our lives. But really, what or how exactly is it living a life that's worth it?

This coming session, we will learn a thing or two in making the most out of it. What makes it all the more exciting is the fact that it is coming from a biblical perspective.

Once again, we're excited to have another Alpha video with us. The title is anyone's guess ;)

I'm sure all of us benefited greatly from the video and discussion we had 2 weeks ago on the topic of 'Why and how should we tell others?'

Today, we are gonna watch another Alpha video with the topic 'Why and how do I pray?'

I'm sure every one of us prays at least 3 times a day ;) But really, think about it: Why are we doing what we're doing?

Prayer is as simple as talking to God/Having a conversation with Him.

So, why wait? Start having a conversation with God now! That is one of the greatest privileges we could ever have, to have a Friend that's here with us 24/7.

Awesome.

Pastor Daniel Singh will be sharing with us and believe me, he's good with bagfuls of humour to go along with it as well :)

Hey everyone! So how was the one week break? (We seem to be getting plenty of breaks recently, not that it's a bad thing ;)

For most of us, classes are back up and running, and CF is too! And boy do we have something really special lined up for you people tomorrow!

It's movie week!

As as the title of today's post suggest, we will be watching a film titled Fireproof. This comes from the creators of the awesome film "Facing the Giants" which we watched last year.

Fireproof is an inspiring movie and we're sure all will be blessed by it.

Helloo everyone! Just a brief reminder here.

Most of the students are in the mist of the raya break. Hence, CF therefore is canceled for this week. But we'll be up and running come next Tuesday!

However.....

Do not forget our CF outing this coming Thursday (@24th September) !! :D

It will be held at the Malaysia Agricultural Park or more commonly known as Bukit Cahaya. For those who have been there, you'll know how beautiful the place is. Set amidst nature, it is the perfect blend for a day of fun!

Activities are at an abundance, so there will definitely be something that will whet your appetite :)

But wait! There's more!

This outing is absolutely FREE!

However.....

Registration for transportation is closed. But, if you are interested in joining us, do make it to college at 8am on Thursday. Do note that we encourage you to bring along a car (or two :p) since space is already at its limit on our side. Finally, True worship 2 is coming up!

I've stumbled upon this really cool poster that essentially sums up what worship is all about. Click on it to enlarge. Hope it blesses you. :)

So for those of you who remembered True Worship 1 and for those who did not managed to attend then, here's a little of what to expect for True Worship 2 - Negaraku Malaysia.

The aim and purpose of True Worship 2 - Negaraku Malaysia is a little different from what we had for the first edition. With our ongoing theme, and as the title suggests, we are seeking to extend the meaning of worship to be 'patriotic'.

When we talk about patriotism, it goes much deeper than the usual run off the mill 'semangat' definition of it.

Tomorrow, we seek to breakdown the walls of prejudice to our 'majority' neighbours and to intentionally engage with our society.

Our worship and our walk with God is never a separate thing as to what's happening around us. It has to go hand in hand, as shown in many bible stories, where it is when this happens the kingdom will change and His will be done.

Furthermore, Jesus told us to to feed the hungry and to love our neighbour. One of the most practical ways is to do this is to be part of happenings in this society, and never segregate ourselves from it. Speak out for those who are oppressed, stand up against injustice.

So guys, be prepared for a time of refreshing and transformation as we extend of hands to Malaysia and the nations beyond.

Hey everyone! How has the long weekend been going so far? I'm sure every one of us are in the pink of health :)

First things first, Selamat Hari Merdeka to all our Malaysian friends! Continue to uphold this country in your prayers. Let's have the faith to believe that God is gonna do a major overhaul in this land we call home.

For tomorrow's session, we're honoured to have Miss Pari from Operation Mobilisation to join us. She will be sharing with us on the life and subject of being a missionary.

Let not the word 'missionary' scare you. It doesn't necessarily mean going full-time, instead, looking at the significance of the word itself, we are all missionaries in our own rights. At where you ask? In the very place that God has placed you now! It could be the people in your college, the friends you mix with; At every corner there is the chance to be one. :)

Here's a brief background into Operation Mobilisation taken from their webbie:

"Working in every continent and on every ocean (via two ocean-going ships), Operation Mobilisation seeks to demonstrate and proclaim the love of God. In every situation OM teams adapt to the local culture and situation, finding the best ways to share Jesus.

Taylor's CF 'True Worship' series is back again! I'm sure all who were present at last year's event were blessed by it. We had a great time of worshiping God, dancing, grooving and having great fun along the way!

This time round, the focal point for 'True Worship' would be this nation we live in, Malaysia. For those who have a burden for our country and wish to see a positive change in it, do come along as we gather as one body regardless of our differing backgrounds for a time of interceding for Malaysia and the nations beyond.

The Food Bank Project/ Screening of Gadoh

Hello there people! Having a good weekend?

This time round we have two very very important announcement to make. So be prepared for a pretty long post yea. :) As you can gather from the title of this post, we are exercising the compassion laid in us for those less fortunate and expanding our care acts to those around us who need it.

And this is where the Food Bank collection comes in.

Initiated by Grace Community Services and in collaboration with Taylor's University College and Yeo Hiap Seng, the aim of this project is to provide food for the less fortunate. This comes in the wake of creating the biggest canned food structure using 10,000 cans of food donated by Yeo Hiap Seng.

Hence, on the 23rd of August, the official launch of the Food Bank for the poor will take place and will be officiated by YB Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

How can you get involve you say? This project needs volunteers to help in the distribution of the food on the day of the launch. So, if you happen to be free in the evening of the 23rd, why not make the decision to come and support this initiative?

We will be meeting at the Masjid Jamek Lrt station at 2.15pm. Once assembled, we will together proceed to the location which is within walking distance.

Guys, this is really a great chance to serve and share about the grace of God with the people we will come into contact with. If possible, do register yourselves with Julia at our next CF meeting, which is this coming Tuesday.

So do make a mental note to join ya? :)

This coming CF, we are really excited to be screening the film 'Gadoh'!

Gadoh is a 70-minute feature film that explores our perception of identity and challenges our hatred of the “other” who are all round us. This is a local film so I'm sure it'll prove to be an interesting watch. :) Click on the poster for a larger view.

This would be the perfect opportunity to ask along your friends to join. This isn't a Christian movie nor would we have the usual programs that we commonly have for the meeting. So, all are invited. ;)

Popcorn is mandatory :P

Hello peeps! How's the weekend going?

In the wake of our CF's focus on the social concerns that are going on around us, we are very proud indeed to have Miss Soo Choo of the NGO Tenaganita to be with us to share about 'Modern Slavery in Malaysia'.

It certainly sounds interesting right? Even in today's progressive society and where human rights is a prevalent issue, there are still those who are marginalized and lacking the power to voice out their concerns.

Here's a brief background of Tenaganita:

We are ordinary people who desire the best for our country, our humanity, our world and our future. We stand up for migrant rights, human rights – individuals and communities whenever and wherever equality, fairness, justice and the truth are denied them. Migrant rights are human rights. We want to promote a culture where human rights are embraced, valued and protected. Tenaganita’s mission is to undertake research, advocacy and action to prevent, solve and address grave abuses that happen to migrants and refugees. To do this, we mobilise people, carry out campaigns, conduct research, we advocate and raise money for our work.

This session with Miss Soo Cho will serve as a good reminder to us that there is still much work to be done around us. There is always someone in need of love and justice.

Getting to know a little more of such issues will certainly be a good foundation for us to show care and love to those who need it desperately.

How to get to ECA old office for Prayer Meeting?

A lot of the CF-ers asked for the location of the weekly prayer meeting on Thursday 12-1230pm. And hence, here comes the post to direct you to the prayer warriors' military base.

First, get yourself to this flight of stairs near B2 cafe. I'm sure you have seen it before.

Climb the stairs till you reach the 3rd floor (or it's actually 2nd floor, if you consider the first floor to be ground floor).

By then, you'll see this on your left...

...and this on your right.

The left path will lead you to the ECA (Extra Curricular Activity) office.
The right path, will lead you to the RIGHT path (prayer meeting place). Lol.

Turn right and stop at the first room.

Welcome to ECA Old Office, which is rather a meeting place for students now.
